| The Chord Search feature in Guitar Mentor is
designed to help guitarists deal with the problem of
"Mystery Chords." Let's say that you have
discovered a nice sounding chord on your guitar and you
want to use it in a song that you are working on. But
there is a problem; you do not know the chord's identity.
This has the potential to be very frustrating, because
you will not know what scale to use when soloing over
this "Mystery Chord." If you play in a band,
the other band members will want to know the chord's
identity, but you will not be able to tell them. But, if
you are fortunate enough to be using Guitar Mentor's
Chord Search feature, it will identify the chord by name
and also give you additional playing options for the
newly identified chord. To use Chord Search, just follow
these simple steps: 1.
Click on the Ch (Chromatic
Scale) button.
3. Click on the Chord Search button.
Chord Search has identified the chord, and even shows alternative names for the chord. In order to find the correct soloing scale for a chord that is identified in Chord Search, just decide what Key you want to play the chord in, then activate Auto Scale and enter the Key and Chord information. You will not find a matching identity for every possible note grouping that you enter into Chord Search. It is possible to enter an irregular combination of notes that does not match any of the valid chord types in the Guitar Mentor database. When this happens, Chord Search will attempt to find the closest match in the chord database by eliminating the "odd" note that was present in the note pattern that you entered. |
