| Most musicians are anxious to begin
composing original songs. Ordinarily this would be a very
difficult, if not impossible, task without first
acquiring a fair background in music theory. Without this
theory one would not know which chords should be combined
to produce a song in a certain key. Unless one was very
lucky, the results would be chaotic. Guitar Mentor has
been designed to overcome this major hurdle. By simply
selecting a scale with which you would like to compose a
song, Guitar Mentor will generate a list of chords which
precisely fits the scale which you have selected. These
chords may be connected together in any sequence you
desire to produce a beautiful song. This is truly an
amazing feature of Guitar Mentor. The following is a
detailed example of how to use Composer. 1. Click on the
Composer button, or select Composer from the Options menu
- Key Mode/Scale Your chosen mode or scale is now displayed. As in Auto Scale, you may use the Pattern buttons 1, 2, and 3 in the Command Console to break the mode or scale down into smaller two octave soloing patterns.
Now, let's explore the chord selection provided with your chosen scale. Simply click on a chord inside the Chords list box. As shown below, the scale will be replaced by a pattern of the chord that you selected, in this case, a "D minor major 7th chord." Chord buttons 1, 2, 3 and 4 can now be used to view four of the most popular patterns for the chord.
After selecting your chords, click the Reset button to restore the scale pattern. |
