The Fingerboard Copy buttons allow you to make up to twelve different copies of any note pattern that is displayed on the Guitar Mentor main fingerboard display. This is a powerful composition aid when you wish to store a note pattern of interest before moving on to another selection.

Here is a small example of how the copy buttons work using Composer. Say we have selected the "E Blues" scale and then the "E 7th +9" chord. When you select this chord, its image replaces the E Blues scale in the main fingerboard display. However, you may want to see this chord and the E Blues scale at the same time. To accomplish this, click on any of the copy buttons at the bottom of the Command Console. The E 7th +9 chord is now copied to a duplicate fingerboard image like so:

Now, click the Reset button and the E Blues scale is restored inside the main fingerboard display as shown below. You can now study both chord and scale at once.

You can also save fingerboard copies into your Song Arranger composition documents for future reference. While creating your guitar compositions, you will find it helpful to be able to save and print pictures of the various scales, modes and chords as a way of recording your ideas. Guitar Mentor provides you with three different ways to save any type of note pattern that is visible in the main fingerboard display.

1. Select among 12 saved fingerboard images per Song Arranger project and display them in any combination with the Random Recall feature. Up to three fingerboard images can be displayed at once in each resizable window.

2. Paste an unlimited number of your Guitar Mentor fingerboard copies into the WordPad file that is included in every Song Arranger project folder. In this case, you have the option to add text as needed to fully explain the context of how each fingerboard copy is to be used in your composition. Click on the Notes button after a Song Arranger project is loaded into Guitar Mentor and the WordPad file for that project will appear.

3. The Image Free Store folder lets you save up to 12 fingerboard copies that are not connected to any particular Song Arranger project. This can be useful when you are not ready to begin a composition and just want to save some rough ideas.
